Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-04-27
Note: This is a draft pending counsel review. Final language will be in place before paid orders are accepted.
1. Acceptance
By placing an order with PlateLabs LLC ("PlateLabs", "we", "us") through platelabs.net, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not place an order.
2. Made-to-Order Products
All nameplates are made-to-order based on the engraving data you provide. You are responsible for verifying every field (MAWP, MDMT, serial number, certified-by, year built, etc.) before submitting your order. PlateLabs engraves exactly the data you provide; we do not validate the data against the physical vessel.
3. Proof Approval
Before engraving, we send a digital LightBurn proof to your email. Engraving begins only after you approve the proof. By approving, you confirm that all engraving data is correct and complete. PlateLabs is not liable for typographical errors that survived your proof review.
4. Refunds and Returns
See our Refund Policy for full details. Briefly: made-to-order plates are non-refundable once engraving has begun, but we replace plates that are defective due to PlateLabs error.
5. Compliance
Our nameplates are produced to ASME Section VIII Division 1 (UG-116, UG-119) and NBIC Part 3 standards. Final responsibility for the nameplate's suitability for a given vessel rests with the manufacturer or repair organization. PlateLabs does not assume Code certification responsibility.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PlateLabs's total liability for any order is limited to the amount paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or downtime.
7. Intellectual Property
Customer logos and content provided to PlateLabs remain the property of the customer. By submitting them, you grant PlateLabs a limited license to use them for the sole purpose of producing your order.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts of New York.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date.
