UM Eligibility Check | PlateLabs

Quick checklist to determine whether your pressure vessel qualifies for the UM (miniature) ASME Section VIII Division 1 code symbol stamp.

  1. Question 1

    Does the vessel meet the UM size limits — internal volume ≤ 1.5 ft³ AND MAWP ≤ 250 psi, OR internal volume ≤ 5 ft³ AND MAWP ≤ 100 psi?

  2. Question 2

    Is the vessel shop-built from materials permitted for UM construction?

  3. Question 3

    Is the vessel free from lethal service per UW-2(a)?

  4. Question 4

    Will the vessel be inspected by a qualified UM Authorized Inspector?

  5. Question 5

    Will the manufacturer prepare an ASME Form U-1A or U-1B Manufacturer's Data Report?
